Suicide does not result from a single cause but from a complexity of causes…a build up of unresolved negatives erodes the persons ability to cope, the suicidal act is precipitated by a final negative. Suicide is not the result of one unhappy moment, rather because slowly over time, misery builds within the mind and some environmental influence(often very minor) tips the balance. Suicide is the result of distorted perception…not as things actually are, but as a suicidal individual perceives them to be. Suicide is an individual act but all suicides have three common components: haplessness, hopelessness, and helplessness. Suicide results from losses…the loss of self-esteem, the loss of self-worth, and the most painful loss of all… self-love. .
