A poem for Transgender Day of Visibility, March 31st.
My sibling, Thank you for allowing me to witness your transition. For teaching me a new language. For the sweet grief of who I remember you as and the awe of your rebirth. For showing me your scars, from lightning so powerful it killed your first name. You may frighten the ignorant, as the future always does, but to me you are magic, you are science. You are Mother Nature and Father Time in conversation. You are ancient and you are eventual. Creation and singularity. You, my sibling, are.
