2026 kicks off an alarming (and probably illegal) trend
Breaking news in AI porn. I’ve covered synthetic images here for a few years. Today, one of worst case scenarios I’ve written about came to fruition, on Twitter of course. I’m only including images of consenting adults for obvious reasons.

The new year kicked off with an alarming sex and tech story: Twitter’s wave of nonconsensual erotic images.
Back in July, Elon’s dumb ass released a “spicy” version of his AI platform Grok to his army of incels. Elon heavily promoted the NSFW features of the chatbot and image generator. Grok had very light guardrails and many of us rang the alarm about the potential for abuse. As I wrote in 2024’s Future of Sex, the guardrails never hold.
Over the holidays, after a software update, users were finally able to prompt Grok to generate sexualized images of real people, including minors. They removed their clothes and placed them in sexual positions. A prompt to dress a 14-year-old actress from Stranger Things in a bikini went viral and the images received worldwide condemnation and legal threats today.
The scandal is still unfolding but it already set a very dangerous precedent, while manufacturing consent for some very creepy possibilities in the very near future.
And in another twist, the trend is also now being used by OnlyFans models to produce deepfakes...of themselves. The “replace my outfit with clear tape” trend is taking off.
Buckle up, 2026 is gonna be a wild ride.
